'Maggie Moore(s)" - Movie Review

Jon Hamm is Jordan Sanders, the police chief in the small town of Buckland, New Mexico. When a dead woman shows up with the name of Maggie Moore, he's particularly interested because there was another dead woman named Maggie Moore one week prior. The audience - following the omniscient eye of the camera - knows what happened, but our main character does not, and its fascinating to watch him try to work it out. It all gets started with the unsavory manager of a local sub shop, Jay Moore (Micah Stock). He's buying cut-rate product from a supplier who's into some dubious things, there's a deaf hitman (Happy Anderson) and a nosy neighbour (Tina Fey) ...

I found the humour uneven, although some of it was very funny. Watching the story unfold was a lot of fun (take that word "fun" with a grain of salt - this is quite dark in places).

I was interested to see at the end that this was directed by John Slattery, better known as an actor. I watched the movie because of good reviews - and also because I'm a big fan of Jon Hamm (who's a very versatile actor). I guessed that Slattery and Hamm were friends somehow ... good guess, but unimpressive to anyone who's seen "Mad Men" where the two of them worked together for seven seasons (and apparently became close friends).
