The Tetrarchs. These figures are probably forth century Egyptian, carved from porphyry. What association do they have with San Marco Basilica? The best explanation I've heard so far is that the Venetians liked to raid and put up the relics they retrieved ... For whatever reason, these are embedded into the south-west corner of the church exterior.
