Vim Tip #8: Command History

Vim Tips

Use q: in normal mode to access your Vim command line history. You can use Vim motion keys (hjkl) to move through the list of previous commands, or / or ? to search it. When a command you want to repeat is highlighted, just press enter. Repeating a command makes the command line buffer go away. If you want to exit the command line buffer without repeating a command, use :q as you would with any other tab or buffer.
