A sculptor in Siem Reap has dedicated an immense amount of time and energy to recreating Angkor Wat as an accurate scale model in his back yard. His work brought the attention of the King a decade ago, and he made at least one other copy of the Angkor Wat model back then. I think he's fallen on hard times since - I was welcomed like a king myself, which suggests he doesn't get a lot of visitors to see the models these days. He turned 70 the day I visited! There was also an accurate scale model of Banteay Srei - the more interesting because he'd restored all the roofs that had collapsed on the real thing. It was a fun place to visit.
