The computer-controlled shutters of the Institut du Monde Arabe's facade. The building facade consists of about one hundred of these. The idea is based on the carved wood or stone moucharabiyahs (screens) seen throughout the Muslim world, but each square is a set of light-controlling apetures, all controlled by a central computer (which crashes frequently).
